31 Day Challenge: Day 29 Inspired by the Supernatural

Almost finished with this challenge! I'm so ready to do some summery designs! I'm thinking sunflowers...

Today's challenge is inspired by the supernatural. Being a lover of terrifying show and gorgeous men, I'm a huge Supernatural fan! But if there's anything I've learned from that show, it's not to fuck around with the supernatural. So instead of drawing some crazy symbols on my nails and getting possessed by a demon, I'm going with a more tame version - Goosebumps! I was never allowed to read these books when I was little (mostly because my parents were hardasses back then. They have since become doe-eyed, sappy, rule-less parental units with my siblings). So I actually know nothing about them other than I'm sure I would have loved them 10 years ago. Maybe now? Anyways, at some point in time, I remember seeing a friend of mine reading one of these books with an awesome holographic cover. I tried to find a picture, but the internet failed me. So you'll have to pretend with this one.

Since I still really liked the holographic idea, I started with a base coat of Sally Hansen Crystal Ball.

I wanted to add a little more pizzazz to this, so I put on a layer of a glow-in-the-dark polish. I'm not sure if you've tried to take a picture in the dark lately, but it's harder than it looks. Excuse the blur.

Finally, I drew on the green ooze with Nicole by OPI One Time Lime.

And here they are in the dark!

I'm going out to a couple bars tonight, so I'm looking forward to a bunch of questions about why I have terrifying, oozey, glowing nails.

31 Day Challenge: Day 26 Inspired by a Pattern

Have you guys watched Merlin? I just started, and this show is adorable. I love BBC shows. And British people. *sigh*

When I was little, pretty much everything I owned was Lisa Frank - pencils, erasers, folders, notebooks - everything was brightly colored, sparkly, and had a slight cheetah vibe. For today's challenge, I was inspired by some of my old Lisa Frank stuff. I searched for images online and found these that I distinctly remember having.

I wish Lisa Frank would make a comeback. I feel like it's way cooler than whatever the kids now have. Anyways, I'm rockin' some sweet nails, which will hopefully bring back this forgotten treasure.

I started off with a layer of the Sally Hansen Crystal Ball holo. The colors I wanted to use are a little see-through, so I figured a layer of this stuff would make them pop! After it dried, I painted diagonal stripes of each color (Pixel Pretty, Byte, Hi-Def, and Lite). They're a little messy, but that doesn't matter too much. For the accent nail I used a leftover sticker

Once everything was dry, I added a layer of Northern Lights for a bit of sparkle and stamped on the cheetah print.

I felt like it needed a little more sparkle, so I added another layer of Northern Lights,

31 Day Challenge: Day 19 Galaxies

Recently I've been describing my mood/day based on the tv shows I've been watching. Today is slightly different in that Grey's hasn't started yet, but I have spent the entire week pondering and discussing who I think is going to die (someone dies tonight). I honestly have no idea who's it's going to be. Usually I pick one, and throughout the conversation name every other person possible lol. Tired of these tv tangents yet?

Today's challenge is galaxy nails. I attempted to do this once before. I went with regular colors, not metallic ones that time. And I added in star blobs. This time, I tried to make my galaxies a little more like a pin the lovely Laurita sent to me. I think I like them better!

With flash -

No flash -

Here's all the colors I used! I started with a base of China Glaze Smoke and Ashes [far left] from The Hunger Games collection. Then I used a makeup sponge to blob on [left to right] China Glaze: Riveting, Coconut Kiss, Sexy In The City, Spoiled Pearly White Teeth, Nicole by OPI Disco Dolls, and Northern Lights Hologram Top Coat "Silver". *Phew* What a mouthful.

Next time I'm going to attempt the swirly galaxies!

31 Day Challenge: Day 18 Half Moons

Today is a much better day tv-wise. SPOILER ALERT: They finally won Nationals on Glee! I thought this was the finale, but apparently that's next week... they have to graduate, I guess. Of course something is going to go terribly wrong at the last minute to outrage me, but I guess that's what television is all about these days. I'm pretty sure no one out there still watches Private Practice (why would you, it's terrible) but I do. Right now I'm watching a character I dislike give birth to a baby without a brain - this can only end in tears, but hopefully my Glee-high will make it a little better.

In other news, I tried to buy the Sailor Moon DVD's today. Do you know how much they're charging for them???? I could buy a new tv for less!!! Luckily I can navigate the interwebs better than most and found a slightly less outrageous set AND a site with all of the episodes! Speaking of moons, today's challenge is half moons! These remind me of Drusilla's nails from Buffy. I think she was just crazy enough to rock them. I'm not sure if I'm quite on her level, but I gave it a shot.

Base coat: Revlon Top Speed Metallic
This isn't too hard to do. All you need to do is apply a base coat, let it dry, and then use half of a paper hole reinforcer to block off the moon. Tada!
