Lacey French Tips

I have been doing laundry for what feels like an eternity! Bleck. While I was waiting for the 19384th load to dry I whipped up a little lacey number. These nail stickers are a little tough to keep flat... and I don't see them lasting too long, but they're pretty to look at!

You can get these stickers and tons of others at the Born Pretty Store!

Purple Passion

In light of all the events today/tomorrow I decided to rep some love. My camera kept dying, and I might have thrown it across the room a couple times. I got some good shots of the purple at least!! Anyways, pretend that I got the lighting to work out for the stamping!

KB Shimmer Where My Peeps At

It was approximately 5000 degrees out in Houston today. I was outside for a total of like 30 minutes and barely managed to avoid melting. This does not bode well for the whole April - November part of the year... I guess the weather is forcing me to get into a Springy mood, so today I whipped out my new KB Shimmer Where My Peeps At! It looks just like Peeps and jelly beans!

Check out KB Shimmer to get some of her adorable polishes!!

JulieG Gumdrop Polish

It's almost officially spring! It already been over 80 degrees for at least a week here, but the 21st still marks the official start to the prettiest season. Today I tried out Jesses Girl Cosmetics' JulieG Collection. They look just like gumdrops! Which is perfect for getting into spring. I bought 6 shades, but I only have 5 fingers, so imagine one mutant finger with a pink shade.

I think the orange one is my favorite!

Vintage Rose Tutorial

Happy St. Patty's Day!! I just got back from a weekend trip with my two besties to a B&B in Fredericksburg. It was so much fun! Since I am the palest person on the planet, I managed to get sunburned by just being outside for like two hours. *sigh*

One of the comments on my last post asked for a tutorial for how I did the vintage roses. And this is my attempt at it! I kinda just made them up as I went along, but I think I managed to recreate one :] Please excuse my rough.. everything.. I managed to break nearly every nail in the past couple days.

I started off with a base of OPI What About Van Gough? and some Essie Matte About You.

Once that was reasonably dry, I made a three-blob shape with China Glaze Peachy Keen. Having perfectly round roses looks weird to me...

Then fill it in. It doesn't have to be perfect at this point.

I then took Spoiled My Silicone Popped and outlined the edges of the flower a little. It could be right on the edge or a littler further inward. Then I added a little blob in the middle.

I did the same thing with Spoiled My Button Fell Off here and there around the flower. It just helps highlight everything.

At this point I freestyled a bit and took a little of each of the colors to just help swirl them all together a little and then drew on leaves with China Glaze Starboard.

Finally, I used another coat of the Matte About You.

Hopefully this quick and dirty tutorial will help you guys out!!

Polish Days: Vintage

The theme for this month's Polish Days is "Vintage" - and what's more vintage than grandma's house! I guess every grandma is different, but my dad's mom lives in a country farmhouse that is chock-full of stuff straight out of 1952 (and older). She used to have a beige-ish quilt with pink roses on it, and that's what I used as my inspiration today!

I gave it a matte finish... because it looks more vintage?

I also tried a glossy top coat just for laughs.

Te gusta? I'm actually really happy with how they turned out!! If you're liking what you're seeing feel free to comment and/or follow me! All of my links are at the top right of the page. The Facebook page for this blog launched yesterday. It's still pretty rough-draft, but it's an even easier way to follow! You should also check out the other Polish Days participants below!

The blog is now on Facebook!

Hi, ho. Hi, hello. Hi, ho, hiya, how do you do?

I'm in a bit of a chipper mood.

By the way, that's an actual song from Big Rock Candy Mountain. I highly recommend that you watch this -  preferably on VHS tape while drinking Sunkist orange soda and eating bon-bons (you'll want them, trust me). If you can't stand the '80s or happiness, fast forward to 6:30 for just the song I'm talking about.

Anyway, the purpose of this post was to let you know that the blog now has a Facebook page! Yippee! Please go check it out and like it. It's literally nothing right now, but I plan on adding tons of pictures, suggestions, design ideas, etc. in the next couple days.

Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue!!

Have you guys watched The Americans? I've been DVR-ing it, but today I finally watched a few episodes. This show is cray! It's about Russian spies living in America in the '80s and all the wild spy stuff they do. Apparently the took a page from the James Bond spy book, because the only form of interrogation they use is to have hot hot sex with their target... So I guess everyone wins?

I did some Woody nails a couple days ago, and I've been pondering how I'd get Buzz Lightyear to the party. I thought about just free-handing everything, but I have a feeling that it'd end up a smudgy mess. Instead I put a bunch of green, purple, and red polish on a plastic sheet, let it dry over night, and then cut out into Buzz shapes. This was still SUPER difficult because they're little tiny pieces of very flimsy polish. But I think it worked pretty great! I ended up painting on the buttons, mostly because I can't cut tiny circles to save my life. I don't know if I'd recommend this method, but I did have a lot of fun doing it!

Toy Story's Woody Skittles

Today has been rough. I went out with a couple friends last night and I have been nursing what feels like the world's worst hangover the entire day. But amidst my pain and misery I came across Toy Story 3 on tv and couldn't help but watch and bawl my eyes out. That movie is so perfect!! I think my next few manis will be Toy Story characters, starting off with my favorite character - Woody!
