Alice in Wonderland

I'm obsessing about Disney movies lately. Nothing new, really. Today's obsession is Alice in Wonderland!! I wanted some crazy nails, and that's definitely what I got. I probably should have planned this a bit more, but I actually think this came out pretty well.

Cheshire Cat
The first character I tried to paint was the Cheshire Cat. I did a purple base coat then taped over where I wanted the stripes. Believe it or not, it took ages to find tiny tape.

Alice
This was the toughest one to do. I'm terrible at free-handing stuff, and somehow this bow just didn't want to work out. It looked good, then I played with it, and then it was terrible, so I fixed it again... now it's ok.

Queen of Hearts' Rose Garden
Ya got me, this is not a person. But it's preeeeetty! I feel like this one came out of the best - which is a minor miracle. I basically blobbed on paint, outlined with a sharpie, and hoped for the best.

Queen of Hearts & Card Guards
My card guards (pointer finger) are meh. The paint pen just wasn't working and ended up smudgie. And that's all I have to say about that. My Queen is a really sweet glitter I got a while back. Give me a break, everyone in Wonderland is stoned anyway.

Here's all the colors I used!!

Revolon Top Speed: Cherry, Violet, and Jelly
Ulta: Mint Condition and For Bitten
Spoiled: Ants in My Pants
Kiss Nail Art White
Nicole by OPI: One Time Lime

I think the next movie on my list is Snow White... Wish me luck!

Hobby Lobby Nails

This happened on accident. I went to Hobby Lobby last night to buy hole punches and tape... Came out with glitter!! After this was all done, I realized that my nails were the same weird orange they use on their signs. I blame it in subliminal messaging.
Since I didn't plan this one, the pics are from my phone... during a class... which I'm still trapped in.
Save me.

I'll try and take some real pics when I get home!

If I ever get home....

Spring Time = Bling Time

This blue is another one of my free Ulta polishes, called Mint Condition. Doesn't look very minty, but it's pretty perfect for spring!

I was trying to decide if I should just leave the blue... but I couldn't! I decided to give the China Glaze Luxe & Lush another shot. Up to this point I'd had zero luck with it. BUT! As I suspected, it works really well with blues!!

Tomorrow I might add in a white tip... we shall see!

Springy Pink

Today I'm keeping it really simple, since I haven't done that in a while. This is kind of a weird color - Heir Head by Ulta. But I actually really like it. Sometimes it looks pink, sometimes it looks orange. *Twilight Zone creepy music* Plus I got it for free! (When you spend as much as I do at Ulta, you get approximately 25 bottles of free polish every year. Yikes.)

Most of the Ulta brand polishes are really thin and need like 5 layers - especially the lighter colors. Pretty annoying, but they always turn out pretty good in the end. I took approximately 13128379 pictures since each one made it look a little different.

I tried to weed them out a bit for ya ;]

The Hunger Games: Stone Cold & Luxe and Lush

This is the LAST of the Hunger Games swatches. I combined the last two into one post, because one of them isn't really a color... You'll see.

First we have Stone Cold, inspired by District 2's Masonry. [Or Joined at the Seam, inspired by the Seam.] If you can't tell, this is a matte. I was pretty skeptical, since I have yet to find a matte I like. But this one was cute! It actually really looked like concrete or something. However, it was a little difficult to apply, since mattes kinda clump and dry fast.

The second color was Luxe and Lush, inspired by District 1.. because it's luxurious..? [Or Flaming Gems, inspired by Katniss's interview dress.] The preview of this color has it over a light blue, and it looks really pretty. I could not get it to look pretty. I've actually used it over a bunch of colors so far. It looks really good in the bottle, but it's like a glue blob filled with glitter. I have yet to get it to look decent... So here's some trash to look at.

The Hunger Games: Hook and Line

Despite these pictures looking sad, I actually really liked this color. Usually greys look a little weird, but this one had swirly bits of coolio. Here we have Hook and Line, inspired by the fishing industry of District 4. [Or Coal Hearted, inspired by District 12.] Chch-ch-ch-ch ch-check it out!*

I totally smudged a few as I was taking pictures. I guess that's what I get for trying to rush things!

The Hunger Games: Electrify

I'm really excited about this color!! I've been trying to save it for last, since it's totally the most awesome, but I just can't. This color is Electrify, inspired by District 5's power production. [Or Heat of the Moment, inspired by Katniss and Peeta's costumes they wear into the Arena.]

I didn't put this polish over anything, but unlike most other glitters, this one was ok without a base color. But putting it over a red, gold, or black would look awesome.

Impress Nails

Last weekend I went to a friend's wedding, and I wanted some kick-ass nails for the occasion. Unfortunately, I had zero time! Broadway Nails to the rescue! I actually found Impress Press-On Nails at CVS a while back and wanted to use them.

I was a little skeptical at first because these have their own jelly glue stuff attached. Usually that stuff never sticks - but these did! Hooray! I was also worried that they would fall off after like 12 seconds - they didn't. Then I worried that they'd be impossible/painful to remove - also untrue! Overall, these worked out really well.

I actually took these pictures after wearing the nails for like 5 days, so they're a little scratched... Get over it.

The Hunger Games: Mahogany Magic

Yikes! Sorry this has taken so long! I took these pictures eons ago, but then I went out of town for forever and a half. My bad, homies.

My pictures do not do this color justice. It looks a little more red-brown, for sure. This color is Mahogany Magic, representing the lumber industry of District 7. [Or Baker's Son, inspired by Peeta.] Different lighting definitely helps this color out, but it's not my favorite... I think I'm too pale to wear it...

No flash, indoor lighting. Best version of the color.

Sorry about the topcoat lines!

With flash. It looks kinda gross...

Truth be told, I don't really like this color. I have another brown already, and I like it a lot better. This one just looks weird indoors...

The Hunger Games: Fast Track

This one only needed one layer! That makes me happy, because I thought it was going to be really thin. This is Fast Track, inspired by the Transportation industry in District 6. Not sure how the color relates though... [Originally this was Catnip, inspired by Katniss. Much better.] This color is... a light beige with flecks of gold. I like it more than I thought I would. Yay!

Had to be blurry to see the shimmeries.

This is how it looks when you're just chillin inside. Still awesome!
See? Better than you thought!
