Azul! Skittles

February has not been a good month for blog posts! I've been driving all over the creation nearly every weekend. Last weekend a bunch of UT friends and I went to New Orleans for Mardi Gras and had a BLAST. There were a few logistical nightmares (massive amounts of traffic, drunks running in front of my car, someone stealing my wallet) but it was a really great weekend overall! :] I had to share a hotel room with seven dudes though. That was a bit of an adventure lol. We each took turns getting lost on Bourbon Street and having cell phones die, but we all made it out alive. And that's all that really matters.

This weekend (if you count Wednesday as the weekend) I drove up to San Antonio to go see the midnight premiere of A Good Day to Die Hard with my bestie Laura. It was one of the most ridiculous movies I have ever seen. I don't think either of us stopped laughing at any point of it. We were both pretty sad that it didn't live up to the Die Hard franchise, but it's still worth seeing if you love you some Bruce Willis. Unfortunately Laura had to work Thursday/Friday/Saturday, so I trekked back to Houston for some much-needed me time. And by me time I really mean going to the DMV to replace my stolen driver's license and order all new credit cards. *Sigh*

Anyway, I finished up all of my chores this afternoon and figured it was time to do a little nail magic! I texted my good buddy Curtis for a little inspiration and he replied "azul." So I did some blue and beige skittles that I actually quite like! I used OPI Fly, OPI Did You Ear About Van Gough?, and some Big Ruby nail tattoos.

Here's how they started off...

I originally did my index finger with a nail tattoo as well, but I thought it looked crappy. But here's a picture of it anyway.

Polish Days: Get Back To Nature

How did February get here so quickly? I must have blacked-out the entire month of January from sheer boredom. I guess it's all a part of getting back in the swing of things post-holidays. This month's Polish Days seems to fit in perfectly with this feeling! We're Getting Back To Nature!

I few months ago I saw a post on Raggio di Luna Nails with a really pretty flower design. I haven't done freehand in a while (plus I'm not that great at it) so I figured it was about time to try it out! Most of the pictures are done without the top coat because I was afraid that everything would ooze together and ruin before I could take pictures. The top coat actually helped blend together some of the rough edges, so imagine the finished product just slightly better than what I'm showing ;)

I'm frustrated with how my pictures look in my lightbox, so I took a picture just out in the open.

Super Bowl XLVII Nails

SUPER! BOWL! SUPER! BOWL!! I love the Super Bowl so much. My team (da Bears) has been out of it since halfway through the season, but today it doesn't matter. It's the Super Bowl! It's by far one of my favorite holidays. I don't really care who wins today, but it's a tradition to pick a team and root for them anyway. I rooted for the Ravens a few seasons ago, but I think I'm gonna switch it up and go for the 49ers this year. I can't remember the last time that team was decent. Anyways, you can't have a Super Bowl without some super nails! Here's my 49ers spirit.

An Ode To The Carrie Diaries - 80s Fashion Skittles!

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I've been working a lot, going on recruiting events, accidentally breaking all of my nails, and attempting to reorganize my apartment. I also got my wisdom teeth out yesterday! I was anticipating excruciating pain and the desire to sleep for a week straight, but apparently these painkillers are really doing the trick! I'm rip-roarin' and ready to go!

The CW has a new show this season called The Carrie Diaries, which is supposed to be a Sex & The City prequel. I've been catching up on a few episodes during this recuperation period and it's starting to grow on me. If you ignore the prequel part, this show is actually pretty adorable! It's not exactly how I imagined a high school Carrie, but she doesn't have some pretty great big-city adventures. Plus their 80s outfits are the greatest! I decided to pay tribute to some of them today! Here's my inspiration:
