Teal and Orange Wedding Skittles

Two of my favorite people in the entire world got married this weekend!!! It was the cutest wedding ever! I like to think I had something to do with that - I suggested the wedding colors and voiced a strong opinion about the bridesmaid dresses - but really I was just along for the ride. Since I thought it was a little inappropriate to have wild colored nails for the ceremony, I went with a traditional French mani. But here's what I would have done!

Colors Used:
OPI A Roll in the Hague
China Glaze For Audrey

Here's a couple pictures from the wedding!

Golden Glitterati

Have you guys seen all of the "Draw My Life" videos on YouTube lately? I think they're super adorable! Too bad I'm not a YouTuber or else I'd join in lol. Maybe one day... Instead I have some glittery nails for you! I kind of just started painting and ended up at this... It's not really a gradient because the gold I used is flakey and makes little clumps, but I like how it turned out. :]

Polishes Used
China Glaze White Cap
Rimmel London French Ivory

Vintage Rose Tutorial

Happy St. Patty's Day!! I just got back from a weekend trip with my two besties to a B&B in Fredericksburg. It was so much fun! Since I am the palest person on the planet, I managed to get sunburned by just being outside for like two hours. *sigh*

One of the comments on my last post asked for a tutorial for how I did the vintage roses. And this is my attempt at it! I kinda just made them up as I went along, but I think I managed to recreate one :] Please excuse my rough.. everything.. I managed to break nearly every nail in the past couple days.

I started off with a base of OPI What About Van Gough? and some Essie Matte About You.

Once that was reasonably dry, I made a three-blob shape with China Glaze Peachy Keen. Having perfectly round roses looks weird to me...

Then fill it in. It doesn't have to be perfect at this point.

I then took Spoiled My Silicone Popped and outlined the edges of the flower a little. It could be right on the edge or a littler further inward. Then I added a little blob in the middle.

I did the same thing with Spoiled My Button Fell Off here and there around the flower. It just helps highlight everything.

At this point I freestyled a bit and took a little of each of the colors to just help swirl them all together a little and then drew on leaves with China Glaze Starboard.

Finally, I used another coat of the Matte About You.

Hopefully this quick and dirty tutorial will help you guys out!!

Colors used:

Pink - Spoiled My Silicone Popped
Peach - China Glaze Peachy Keen
Light Pink - Spoiled My Button Fell Off
Green - China Glaze Starboard

Polish Days: Vintage

The theme for this month's Polish Days is "Vintage" - and what's more vintage than grandma's house! I guess every grandma is different, but my dad's mom lives in a country farmhouse that is chock-full of stuff straight out of 1952 (and older). She used to have a beige-ish quilt with pink roses on it, and that's what I used as my inspiration today!

I gave it a matte finish... because it looks more vintage?

I also tried a glossy top coat just for laughs.

Te gusta? I'm actually really happy with how they turned out!! If you're liking what you're seeing feel free to comment and/or follow me! All of my links are at the top right of the page. The Facebook page for this blog launched yesterday. It's still pretty rough-draft, but it's an even easier way to follow! You should also check out the other Polish Days participants below!

An Ode To The Carrie Diaries - 80s Fashion Skittles!

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I've been working a lot, going on recruiting events, accidentally breaking all of my nails, and attempting to reorganize my apartment. I also got my wisdom teeth out yesterday! I was anticipating excruciating pain and the desire to sleep for a week straight, but apparently these painkillers are really doing the trick! I'm rip-roarin' and ready to go!

The CW has a new show this season called The Carrie Diaries, which is supposed to be a Sex & The City prequel. I've been catching up on a few episodes during this recuperation period and it's starting to grow on me. If you ignore the prequel part, this show is actually pretty adorable! It's not exactly how I imagined a high school Carrie, but she doesn't have some pretty great big-city adventures. Plus their 80s outfits are the greatest! I decided to pay tribute to some of them today! Here's my inspiration:

January Polish Days: Something New!

Trying to think of "something new" to do mani-wise was a little tough. In the past year or so I've tried out so many new designs and techniques that I wasn't sure what was left! Luckily I had a few bookmarked ideas to look through! I stumbled across an interlocking dots tutorial by Nail Polish Wars that made the technique a little less intimidating.

I was watching the BCS National Championship game while I was doing this, so I decided to rep the Crimson and White while cheering on the Tide! I think this turned out really well for a first attempt! It definitely won't be my last.

I got a little anxious and smeared a few of the white dots... but it's way less noticible in person. :]

China Glaze White on White
OPI Skyfall

Heart Skittles

I don't usually like hearts... but today felt like a heart kind of day! Some of the stamps didn't work out perfectly, but I like the look nonetheless. I used China Glaze Sea Spray as the base, topped it off with Models Own Indian Ocean, and then stamped with Spoiled My Silicone Popped.

Some days I don't have much to say about a post, so here's an awesome song to make up for it :)
