Born Pretty Pink Feather Tattoos

Oh my gosh, I have been dying to do my nails. Two weeks is a long time to go without! My offshore role is going really well so far. :] The time goes by pretty quickly since I'm always busy, but it's nice to be home.

I decided to go with a pretty simple mani until I can get my nails straightened out (they're pretty chipped and short). I got these water decals from the Born Pretty Store. They're really pretty, but I had some application issues. The decals were on the paper backwards! If you try to apply them like a normal temporary tattoo, you end up with the wrong side of the decal facing outwards. I was unamused, but I managed to delicately slide them off the backing paper onto my nails and all was well. I'm not sure if all of their nail tattoos are like this, but beware if you're not comfortable sliding decals around.

Teal and Orange Wedding Skittles

Two of my favorite people in the entire world got married this weekend!!! It was the cutest wedding ever! I like to think I had something to do with that - I suggested the wedding colors and voiced a strong opinion about the bridesmaid dresses - but really I was just along for the ride. Since I thought it was a little inappropriate to have wild colored nails for the ceremony, I went with a traditional French mani. But here's what I would have done!

Golden Glitterati

Have you guys seen all of the "Draw My Life" videos on YouTube lately? I think they're super adorable! Too bad I'm not a YouTuber or else I'd join in lol. Maybe one day... Instead I have some glittery nails for you! I kind of just started painting and ended up at this... It's not really a gradient because the gold I used is flakey and makes little clumps, but I like how it turned out. :]

Lacey French Tips

I have been doing laundry for what feels like an eternity! Bleck. While I was waiting for the 19384th load to dry I whipped up a little lacey number. These nail stickers are a little tough to keep flat... and I don't see them lasting too long, but they're pretty to look at!

You can get these stickers and tons of others at the Born Pretty Store!

Purple Passion

In light of all the events today/tomorrow I decided to rep some love. My camera kept dying, and I might have thrown it across the room a couple times. I got some good shots of the purple at least!! Anyways, pretend that I got the lighting to work out for the stamping!

Vintage Rose Tutorial

Happy St. Patty's Day!! I just got back from a weekend trip with my two besties to a B&B in Fredericksburg. It was so much fun! Since I am the palest person on the planet, I managed to get sunburned by just being outside for like two hours. *sigh*

One of the comments on my last post asked for a tutorial for how I did the vintage roses. And this is my attempt at it! I kinda just made them up as I went along, but I think I managed to recreate one :] Please excuse my rough.. everything.. I managed to break nearly every nail in the past couple days.

I started off with a base of OPI What About Van Gough? and some Essie Matte About You.

Once that was reasonably dry, I made a three-blob shape with China Glaze Peachy Keen. Having perfectly round roses looks weird to me...

Then fill it in. It doesn't have to be perfect at this point.

I then took Spoiled My Silicone Popped and outlined the edges of the flower a little. It could be right on the edge or a littler further inward. Then I added a little blob in the middle.

I did the same thing with Spoiled My Button Fell Off here and there around the flower. It just helps highlight everything.

At this point I freestyled a bit and took a little of each of the colors to just help swirl them all together a little and then drew on leaves with China Glaze Starboard.

Finally, I used another coat of the Matte About You.

Hopefully this quick and dirty tutorial will help you guys out!!

Polish Days: Vintage

The theme for this month's Polish Days is "Vintage" - and what's more vintage than grandma's house! I guess every grandma is different, but my dad's mom lives in a country farmhouse that is chock-full of stuff straight out of 1952 (and older). She used to have a beige-ish quilt with pink roses on it, and that's what I used as my inspiration today!

I gave it a matte finish... because it looks more vintage?

I also tried a glossy top coat just for laughs.

Te gusta? I'm actually really happy with how they turned out!! If you're liking what you're seeing feel free to comment and/or follow me! All of my links are at the top right of the page. The Facebook page for this blog launched yesterday. It's still pretty rough-draft, but it's an even easier way to follow! You should also check out the other Polish Days participants below!

Azul! Skittles

February has not been a good month for blog posts! I've been driving all over the creation nearly every weekend. Last weekend a bunch of UT friends and I went to New Orleans for Mardi Gras and had a BLAST. There were a few logistical nightmares (massive amounts of traffic, drunks running in front of my car, someone stealing my wallet) but it was a really great weekend overall! :] I had to share a hotel room with seven dudes though. That was a bit of an adventure lol. We each took turns getting lost on Bourbon Street and having cell phones die, but we all made it out alive. And that's all that really matters.

This weekend (if you count Wednesday as the weekend) I drove up to San Antonio to go see the midnight premiere of A Good Day to Die Hard with my bestie Laura. It was one of the most ridiculous movies I have ever seen. I don't think either of us stopped laughing at any point of it. We were both pretty sad that it didn't live up to the Die Hard franchise, but it's still worth seeing if you love you some Bruce Willis. Unfortunately Laura had to work Thursday/Friday/Saturday, so I trekked back to Houston for some much-needed me time. And by me time I really mean going to the DMV to replace my stolen driver's license and order all new credit cards. *Sigh*

Anyway, I finished up all of my chores this afternoon and figured it was time to do a little nail magic! I texted my good buddy Curtis for a little inspiration and he replied "azul." So I did some blue and beige skittles that I actually quite like! I used OPI Fly, OPI Did You Ear About Van Gough?, and some Big Ruby nail tattoos.

Here's how they started off...

I originally did my index finger with a nail tattoo as well, but I thought it looked crappy. But here's a picture of it anyway.
